September 9: St. Goar to Muden

Another pretty day - sunny and in the low 70's. We continue our cruise
up the Rhine castle country
to Koblenz, where we take a turn to the south to follow the Mosel. At the
point where the rivers separate, there is a large monument...
Since it's Monday, the number of bike tourists has decreased significantly, and
we often find ourselves alone on the road.
Navigation... Somebody has to figure out where we are and
where we're going. Since Jayne's primary job as stoker is to help
propel the bike, she gets to do the navigating.
Armed with a map and guidebook, aided by the bike path direction signs (at
least in Germany)
she gets us to our destinations, usually with minimal side trips. |
The hotel in Muden is just OK - the first room we try is too hot for
survival, so we ask for another one, and a fan. This is more comfortable,
and 8 euros cheaper. The majority of guests in the hotel are part of a
group of disabled people from Belgium who take bus trips throughout Europe.
On to Reil
