September 11: Reil to Lunguich

We intentionally picked these tour dates to be out of the U.S. on Sept. 11. We've seen and heard enough, and had no desire to spend a week seeing a replay of the towers collapsing or hearing talking heads pontificate. Since few of the places we stayed had televisions in the rooms (and few of the ones who did had any English-language programming), and no English-language newspapers, we avoided the vast bulk of the Sept. 11 memorials. We did take a moment for remembrance at the anniversary of the tower collapses. Even though we flew a U.S. and Texas flag from the bike, no one we met commented on the events of Sept. 11.
Today dawns cloudy and cool. Though rain threatens, it never materializes. Most of the day is spent making good time through the Mosel vineyards.
When we stop for lunch, we are visited by the guys we met at the shelter the day before. They saw our bike parked out front and stopped in to say hello and check on our beer and wine consumption.
Our lodgings for the evening are in a quiet guesthouse...
